Parchment

I could spend the next forty years with you,
Trying to take down all the little things you do,
Trying to capture your heart on a piece of parchment,
Staring out on the city from a beat-up apartment,

But we don't have a parchment love,
We don't have a parchment love.

We'll start with every day if that's enough for you,
It seems short after all we've been through,
We're running through life this is life at its best,
And your heart is the same as the one in my chest,

But we don't have a parchment love,
We don't have a parchment love.
We don't have a parchment love,
No we don't have a parchment love.

I love better on paper my dear,
This whole time that has been my greatest fear,
Would flood or would flame rend our love asunder?
Could you tell me what spell do you have me under?

I’m still trying to understand,
A parchment love’s not what I planned,
So tell me have I fallen far?
A parchment love’s not all we are,

Take this paper,
Take this pen,
All I want is for you to,
Take my hand,
Let's walk through this life,
Feel the sand in our toes,
Let's laugh till the laughter,
Wrinkles your nose,
And then I don't need parchment,
To remember our start,
Because you've written it all on my parchment heart.

(Oh I swear it is all on my parchment heart)
